While at Placeworks, John Hykes prepared schematic design, project managed and prepared construction documents and oversaw construction administration of Frog Pad Park- a small one acre park in one of Hercules’s New Urbanist neighborhoods along the San Pablo Bay waterfront. long Sycamore and Willits Streets. Frog Pad Park is located adjacent to residential development and the design required balancing public access needs with the desires of the surrounding neighborhood. The design maintains visual access to the park from the adjacent residential areas and incorporates creek and wetland themes while protecting the adjacent riparian habitat areas. The park opened in the fall of 2008.
